Forgiveness is one of the most distinguishing features of Ramadan. If we truly want Allah's love, mercy and forgiveness, we must remember that the pleasures in this world are transient, and we are working toward that which is permanent. Is it worth being bitter and stunting our growth? Will it really benefit us? Will our anger and bitterness change the person who has hurt us?

Let us use this Ramadan to open our hearts to those who have wronged us and forgive them as we beg Allah to forgive us..

Love a little more than what is necessary..
Work a little harder than what is required..
Be a little kinder than what is usual..
Give a little more than what u feel u can afford..
Stand in a prayer a little longer than what u intended..
Be a little more patient than what u feel u can handle..
It is that little extra effort sparked by sincerity in the heart
that makes your ordinary self extraordinary...

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Breastfeeding Make Your Baby Smarter

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim

Can Breastfeeding Make Your Baby Smarter?

Breastfeeding may improve children's cognitive development

Expectant mothers considering whether to nurse their newborns now have another potential benefit to consider: breastfeeding may be associated with improved academic success in first grade. In a study of 17,000 children in Belarus, those who were breastfed exclusively and for longer periods of time performed better academically than children who were not. The study, which also involved a "breastfeeding promotion intervention," is the largest to date to focus on the connection between breastfeeding and cognitive development.

Breastfeeding support may help

An additional result of the study suggests that new mothers who want to breastfeed may be more successful with support from healthcare providers. Mothers in an experimental group received encouragement and support from medical personnel to breastfeed exclusively (without supplementary liquids or foods) and to continue breastfeeding for an extended period of time. Those in a control group received no outside encouragement or support. The intervention worked: mothers in the experimental group were more likely to breastfeed exclusively at 3 months (43% compared with 6% for the control group) and had higher rates of breastfeeding for up to 12 months. On average, children in the control group breastfed for shorter periods of time, if at all.

Better school performance

What impact did those mothers' decisions about breastfeeding have on their children? Children of mothers in the experimental group showed cognitive benefits of their prolonged breastfeeding: they performed better on both standardized IQ tests and in teachers' ratings of their academic performance than children who were breastfed less. At 6% years, children in both groups were given a standardized IQ test with four subtests: vocabulary, similarities, block designs, and matrixes. On each of the subtests, and in terms of overall intelligence, children of mothers in the experimental group, who were breastfed, outperformed children in the control group. The breastfed children also outperformed their peers in the control group in teacher ratings of their academic performance in reading, writing, mathematics, and other subjects, and the breastfed children even scored slightly higher (by 7.5 points) in the verbal section of an IQ test.
Researchers cannot yet explain why breastfeeding had this effect-whether there is an ingredient in mother's milk that improves intellectual function, or whether the close physical, social, and verbal interactions inherent in breastfeeding foster cognitive development. It may be that how a baby is fed and nurtured, as well as what a baby is fed, influences later academic performance.
Whatever the explanation, the results of this study suggest that prolonged and exclusive breastfeeding may improve children's cognitive development.

Ummi's Milk Heals

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim

When I'm lonely, sad or blue,
Mommy's milk heals.

When I'm hungry, or thirsty too,
Mommy's milk heals.

When the day's been long and very hard,
Mommy's milk heals.

When I get a scratch out in the yard,
Mommy's milk heals.

When I'm playing and get knocked down,
Mommy's milk heals.

When I'm not really sure about that silly clown...
Mommy's milk heals.

When the day is rainy or full of sun,
Mommy's milk heals.

When I feel I'm not her only one,
Mommy's milk heals.

When I want to run away and hide,
Mommy's milk heals.

When it's s-c-a-r-y on that bumpy ride,
Mommy's milk heals.

When I'm sick and not feeling well,
Mommy's milk heals.

When the bump on my knee begins to swell,
Mommy's milk heals.

When to Grandma I say my last goodbyes,
Mommy's milk heals.

When life's confusing through my eyes,
Mommy's milk heals.

No matter my need
Or my condition -
Mommy's right there
Without hesitation.

Her milk grows me up!
Keeps me safe ~ happy too.
All the days till I'm ready,
It's her big 'I Love You!'

Senarai Khasiat Susu Ibu Berbanding Susu Formula

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim

These two lists were developed by Cecily Heslett, Sherri Hedberg and Haley Rumble as a student project for the Breastfeeding Course for Health Care Providers at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC, Canada in 2007. You can view the full pdf poster students created here. Note that we are still discovering new 'ingredients' in human milk each year. The science of lactation is relatively new and there is still a significant amount that we do not understand, and have not yet solved. It is very possible that the ingredient list for human milk is three times this length, with special factors we may not unfold for years to come.

Freeze breastmilk in ice cube trays. Once frozen, pop out the breastmilk cubes and store them in a zip-top freezer bag. You can go back to your stash from time to time when you need some and take only one cube of breastmilk at a time rather than heat up an entire bag of milk for one small application.

  • To treat an insect sting, take a frozen cube of breastmilk and apply it to the sting area. Hold it there until melted.

  • Breastmilk cures pinkeye (conjunctivitis). Just express a little breastmilk or thaw one of your cubes and rinse your eye with it several times a day.

  • If your baby is teething, wrap a cube or two of frozen breastmilk in a thin washcloth and secure it tightly with a heavy rubber band. Let baby chew and suck on the cube. It will taste good as it melts and the cold will make baby's gums feel better.

  • To treat diaper rash or yeast infections, give baby (or yourself) a bath in warm water mixed with lots of breastmilk. The milk is soothing to the skin and will also help to kill the infection. Milk baths will also soften your skin.
  • Breastmilk can be used to treat acne and soften your skin. Apply to skin in the evenings before bed or mix into a facial mask and apply. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes before rinsing.
  • Breastmilk can cure an ear infection. Melt one of your frozen cubes and use a medicine dropper to gently squirt it into the ear canal several times a day.
  • Breastmilk makes a great ingredient for toddlers' popsicles. When you freeze your own popsicles at home, add breastmilk to the recipe instead of water. You can also freeze plain milk popsicles.
  • Breastmilk can cure all types of infection. Use it to treat cuts, bruises, scrapes, and minor infections. You can apply breastmilk to your baby's cord stump or to a circumcision wound. Breastmilk can also be used on burns and to soothe chicken pox itch.
  • Breastmilk makes great soap. If you are crafty or if you like soapmaking, use your extra expressed breastmilk to create a soothing soap for your family.

If no hospitals in your area accept donated breastmilk, you may still be able to find someone to take it. Poorer mothers may wish to feed their babies breastmilk instead of formula. Check Craigslist.org or ask if you can post a notice at the hospital letting other mothers know that you have breastmilk that you are willing to donate for free.

Chongqing woman uses breast milk for baby bath water

babymilkbath.jpgA Chinese mother is producing so much breast milk that she bathes her baby in the excess every day. The mother said she usually ends up producing two liters more milk than her six-week-old daughter needs to drink, so the family has been finding clever ways to get rid of it. At first, she, her husband and her mother-in-law took turns drinking the extra milk. But when there was still plenty left over, they began giving the baby milk baths, which have made the baby's skin very smooth and white. Source: Ananova
